During his national youth service in 2015, he was chosen as the platoon leader at the 21-days orientation camp in Kaduna and was elected Corpers Liason Officer (CLO) of the State’s largest Local Government. He was the first president of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development’s CDS group. He received six commendation awards from community leaders, corporate organizations, and the NYSC State Chairman merit award for his community development service after organizing several community developments projects such as training the women in his host community on vocational skills and organizing workforce development workshops for students and co-corps members.

To achieve SDGs 1 and 8, Abdullateef has trained over 10,000 graduates, 70% of whom are women and people with disabilities, in modern technology and vocational education so that they can find work and help eradicate extreme poverty in rural communities across northern Nigeria. Over 20% of these graduates are now business owners in their communities.

“Knowing I come from northern Nigeria, where the sub-rural communities in Kaduna and Niger states have become hotbeds for banditry and kidnapping, resulting in increased economic hardship, some women are forced into prostitution with the bandits, while some people with disabilities and youths are lured to provide a hideout for the terror group,” Abdullateef says. As a result, I’m preventing more young men and women from joining the bandits’ operations by reducing extreme poverty in rural communities and strengthening the capabilities of vulnerable youths, women, and people with disabilities.”

Abdullateef has volunteered with organizations such as the Global Youth Network, where he served as Country Director, ONE, iamthcode, and the Nigeria Youth SDGs Network, among others, to advocate for policies that will eradicate extreme poverty and preventable diseases in rural communities throughout Northern Nigeria.

He has been honored and recognized by organizations such as the Facebook, Young Africa Leadership Initiative Regional Leadership Center Accra 2020, LEAP Africa Social Innovators Program 2020, Top 100 Digital Entrepreneurs by Global Startup Ecosystem sponsored by US embassy 2020, Fate Foundation Aspiring Entrepreneur 2020, and winner Action Accelerator Africa/Europe pitch competitions, Because International’s Pursuit Incubator, United States, 2020, among others, for his contributions to community development through workforce development.
By 2030, he aims to provide equitable economic opportunities and awareness for 10 million African youths, girl-child, women and people with disabilities and create 10,000 decent and productive jobs to eradicate extreme poverty and preventable diseases in rural communities across Africa. Abdullateef is a hero that should be celebrated.
